Meeting Online

Justin and I met on the internet, as do so many couples these days. Our difference though, was that we didn’t immediately meet in real life. In fact, we spoke daily for 2 hours during the first 6 months of our relationship without ever having actually met each other. Our relationship did evolve: we started speaking on the phone, then seeing each other on webcams, etc. We eventually both fell in love, as much in love as two people who have never seen each other in real life can be.

I knew everything about him. His childhood, his hopes, his dreams, his fears, and he knew the same of me. We were just like any other couple, only we hadn’t met. We simply didn’t feel the need to.

One day however, we decided we wanted to finally take the ultimate step, and meet each other. Both of us were ready at last, we wanted to really know the person we were so much in love with and see if that attraction continued in real life. Our plan was simply to meet for dinner, a typical date with nothing really special about it, at a Thai restaurant.

When we met, we hugged, immediately kissed, and I looked into his eyes and asked, So does this still count as love at first sight? He laughed and hugged me again, both of us happy as little children. Our dinner was absolutely fantastic, though I wasn’t concentrating about the food. We were even more perfect for each other in real life than we were when talking on the internet.

After that date, we decided to meet again without hesitation. We still move slowly, but we’re still together. We’re still living separately, but we see each other at least 4 times every week. We make the quality time for each other. We’re still just as in love as we were the first time we saw each other, and plan to continue our relationship. I’m so happy with him, and we both intend to spend the rest of our lives together.
